WEBP to JPG

A download named photo.webp is useless when the next program only opens JPEG. WEBP to JPG converts one image in the browser.

Drop one WEBP. The browser draws it onto a canvas, fills the canvas white first, then paints the image and saves a JPEG at quality 0.92. Transparent pixels become white. There is no control for the fill color and no quality slider. If this browser cannot decode WEBP, the drop fails instead of producing a broken file. Animation is not a frame picker. Size and the reverse conversion

Pixel dimensions stay the same. A large WEBP becomes a large JPEG, and quality 0.92 can make the JPEG bigger than the WEBP, because WEBP is often the smaller container. Compress Image can re-encode that JPEG at quality 80 on the server if you need fewer bytes. JPG to WEBP goes the other way in the browser. WEBP to PNG keeps a lossless-style PNG, including a better chance of transparency, when JPEG is the wrong target. PDF tools do not belong in the middle of a still-image conversion.

When the browser is the wrong place

A WEBP your browser cannot decode will not convert here. Use a desktop export for odd or very new files. HEIC to JPG is the iPhone path and does upload. This WEBP job does not. Do not rename .webp to .jpg and expect it to open. The bytes are a different format until something decodes them. A photo that must become a document should go to JPG to PDF after this conversion, not stay as a loose image attachment. Check the JPEG in the program that rejected the WEBP before you delete the original. If that program still fails, the problem is not the file extension.
