Rotate Image

Rotate Image turns one picture by 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees and downloads a PNG. Ninety and 270 swap the width and the height.

Four angles and a plus-90 button

After the image loads, the choices are 0°, 90°, 180°, 270°, and a button labeled +90°. Plus 90 adds 90 and wraps at 360, so 270 then plus 90 returns to 0. The preview rotates with CSS. The download draws a canvas. The canvas width is the photo width times the absolute cosine plus the photo height times the absolute sine, rounded. The height swaps those roles. A 100 by 50 picture at 90 degrees becomes 50 by 100. At 180 it stays 100 by 50. At 0 it stays 100 by 50. The download name ends in -rotated.png. The button says Download PNG.

What the turn does not do

There is no free angle such as 15 degrees. There is no crop. Flip Image is the horizontal and vertical mirrors, and those switches are not on this page. The output is PNG. A JPEG source does not stay a JPEG. EXIF orientation is whatever the browser applied when it decoded the file. This page does not read a separate orientation tag after that. A drop the page will not draw shows Please upload an image. Download before a photo loads shows Load an image first. A square stays a square at every angle, because swapping equal sides changes nothing. There is no field for a custom degree such as 45.

Which angle is upright

Use 90 when the subject is on its side and you need the other axis. Use 180 when the subject is upside down and the frame size should stay the same. Use 270 when 90 went the wrong way. Plus 90 is the same angles, one step at a time. Look at the preview before you download. The file uses the angle that is selected, not an extra turn on top of the preview. Selecting 0 after a 90 degree preview puts the canvas back to the original width and height on the next download. 270 degrees on a 100 by 50 picture is also 50 by 100, the same swap as 90, turned the other way.

Pixels stay here

Nothing is uploaded. A large photo stays large, only swapped when the angle is 90 or 270. There is no quality slider because the output is PNG. Keep the original until the download looks upright. A second download uses the angle that is selected at that moment. A 640 by 480 picture at 90 degrees becomes 480 by 640. At 270 the sides swap the same way. At 180 the canvas stays 640 by 480 because cosine of 180 is 1 in absolute value and sine is 0. The +90° button does not add a fifth angle. It only walks the same four.
