Compress PDF for Email: Limits, Tools, and When to Split Instead
Gmail and Outlook attachment limits explained — compress, split, or merge first using FileToolsHub’s free PDF workflow.
When an attachment bounces, the fix is rarely “send a ZIP.” PDFs fail because scanned pages, slide exports, and merged invoices stack megabytes of images. Compress PDF reduces that weight; Split PDF or a shorter Merge PDF fixes packets that are still too large after compression.
Follow the dedicated workflow at /compress-pdf-for-email for ordered steps. Start with Compress PDF on the file you already have. If the portal still rejects it, delete blank pages on /tool/edit-pdf-pages, split appendices with /tool/split-pdf, or merge only the sections you need.
Phone photos should enter the pipeline as JPG to PDF or Images to PDF before compressing. Keep a high-quality master for printing; email the compressed derivative.
For merge-then-shrink jobs, use /merge-and-compress-pdf instead — combining files before compression is the usual client packet pattern.
