Typing Speed Test

A hiring form or a practice session asks for words per minute. Typing Speed Test times you on one sample and shows WPM, accuracy, and word count.

How the score is counted

Set a duration from 15 to 300 seconds. The default is 60. Press Start, then type the sample. Words are the chunks of what you typed, split on spaces, not a standard five characters per word. WPM is that word count divided by the minutes elapsed so far, rounded. Accuracy compares each character you typed with the same position in the sample and turns the matches into a percent. Extra characters past the sample do not match. The sample never changes. It is the sentence about a fox, then a line about practicing accuracy. You cannot paste your own paragraph.

While the clock runs

The timer starts when you press Start, not when you type the first letter. Reset clears the attempt. Duration cannot be edited after the start. The box is disabled until you start, and again when time hits zero. Scores stay in the tab. Nothing is saved to an account. Keyboard Test checks that keys register. Microphone Test, Webcam Test, and Mouse Test check other hardware. Speaker Test plays sound. None of those measure typing speed.

When this score is not enough

A one-sentence test is a rough practice number, not a certified exam. Real tests rotate passages and often define a word as five characters, so their WPM will not match this one. There is no error highlight on the sample, no sound, and no history chart. Screen Resolution and Pomodoro Timer are unrelated timers and displays. LocalStorage Size measures browser storage, not keystrokes. The keystrokes stay on this device. Practice the fox sentence a few times before you treat the number as your speed. A hiring form that counts a word as five characters needs a different test. Reset and run a shorter check if the first minute felt slow.
