Excel to CSV

Excel to CSV reads the first worksheet and downloads comma-separated text. A second sheet in the same workbook is not exported.

Sheet one, then commas

The workbook is opened from the uploaded bytes. The sheet used is the first name in the sheet list. sheet_to_csv writes that sheet. A workbook whose first sheet is name and qty with one data row Ada and 2 becomes the text name,qty then Ada,2, with no extra blank line after the last row in that measurement. The button reads Run Excel to CSV. The download name ends in converted.csv. The content type is text/csv. There is no sheet picker. Rename or reorder sheets in a spreadsheet before you upload if the sheet you want is not first.

What does not come along

The measured second sheet, with a header secret, was not in the CSV. Charts, pivot caches, and a second table on a later sheet stay behind. This page does not emit one CSV per sheet and it does not zip them. Formulas are not a second column of expressions. You get the sheet's cell text as the CSV library writes it. Dates and numbers follow that export, not a format string you type here. There is no encoding menu. The cap is 25 MB. Put the values in cells on the first sheet if the CSV is the thing you need to keep. A chart that is not stored as cells is outside what this export was measured to keep.

A header row is the first row of the sheet

Unlike JSON to CSV, this page does not invent a header from object keys. If row 1 is already name and qty, that row is the first CSV line. If row 1 is a title sentence, that sentence becomes the first line and your real headers shift down. Delete the title row before you upload when the consumer expects keys on line 1. Empty rows in the sheet can become empty CSV lines. Check the file in a text editor once. The measured one-row sheet did not add a blank line after Ada. If your file shows a blank line, that row existed in the sheet. This export does not drop hidden rows by a setting on the form, because the form has no such setting.

The workbook is uploaded

The xlsx is uploaded for the conversion, and the temporary file is removed after the download. Keep the workbook if you still need the other sheets. JSON to Excel builds a workbook from JSON. This page goes the other way, and only from the first sheet. A workbook with sheets named First and Second exports First and ignores Second, which is what the measurement showed when Second held a secret column. Put the sheet you need at the front, save, and upload that file. The CSV has no sheet tabs left in it.
