About Discount Calculator
One percent off one price
The form has two fields: original price and discount percent. Savings are original times percent divided by 100. The final price is original minus savings. The default fields are 100 and 20, which is a savings of 20 and a final price of 80. Integers print without a decimal. Other results print with up to two fraction digits. There is no currency symbol and no exchange rate. A blank field stops with Enter a valid number. The same message appears for text that is not a number. Last checked: October 2026, against discountPrice. Change 100 to 40 and 20 to 15 when you want a smaller tag. Savings become 6 and the final price becomes 34. The labels stay Savings and Final price.
What the percent does not include
A second discount is not applied. Twenty percent and then ten percent is not a field here, and this page will not tell you that pair is 28 percent off. Run the final price through the form again if you need a second cut, and read that as a new original. Sales tax is not added. A tip is not added. There is no quantity field. A negative percent raises the price, because the formula still subtracts a negative savings. A percent over 100 makes the final price negative. The tool does not block those inputs. If the shop cannot sell below zero, do not use a percent that large.
How to read the two lines
Savings is the amount removed. Final price is what is left. They use the same units you typed. If you typed dollars, both lines are dollars, but the labels do not say so. Rounding follows the shared number formatter: a whole number stays whole, and a fraction keeps at most two digits. 19.99 at 10 percent is a savings of 1.999, which prints as 2.00 when the formatter rounds the display. Check a receipt if the shop rounds half-cents differently. This is arithmetic, not a tax form and not a coupon validator.
When another calculator fits
Simple Interest Calculator multiplies a principal by a yearly rate and a number of years. It is not a sale price. Percentage tools that ask for part and whole answer a different question than percent off. Tip Calculator adds a percent to a bill and can split people. It does not compute a markdown. If the tag says 20 dollars off rather than 20 percent off, subtract that amount yourself. This form has no amount-off field. A 15 percent cut on 40 removes 6 and leaves 34. Write those two lines down when you are checking the form against a receipt that rounds to the cent. The form will not solve backward from a final price to the percent.
